Voice Tracking

Record, import and position voice tracks with precision

Learn how to add recorded presenter audio, use the Cue Editor, place Voice In and Voice Out tracks, preview the result and keep transitions clean around song intros and outros.

Record or Import Voice In and Voice Out Cue Editor Workflow

Remote Voice Track workflow

TeoCast Workstation can preview audio from Main and prepare Voice Tracks remotely as part of the connected programming workflow.

1

Prepare with Workstation

Keep Main running and connect Workstation to the same SQL station. Open the intended Program Log transition, then record with Record VT or choose Import Voice Track.

2

Deliver before the item reaches air

Preview and position the take, then click Save Voice Track for the selected transition. Review the Program Log before delivering it to Main.

3

Respect the late-insert limit

Late Voice Track insertion is only available for items still waiting. It cannot change items already on air or already played.

Understand the Voice Track workflow

TeoCast uses recorded presenter audio assigned to a specific playlist item or Program Log transition. Record in Workstation or import an existing take, then position it around the song intro, outro or transition.

Voice In

A presenter segment positioned near the beginning of a song, commonly timed to finish before the vocal begins.

Voice Out

A presenter segment positioned near the end of a song, commonly timed around the outro or before the next item starts.

Cue Editor

Used to review the waveform and set timing points such as Vocal In, Vocal Out, Cue In, Mix Out and Audio End.

Preview / Cue Output

Used to listen to the voice-track result without sending the preview to the main on-air output.

Prepare the voice recording

In Workstation, open the intended Voice Track transition, confirm the microphone and recording folder, and click Record VT. Click Stop when finished, review the take, then use Save Voice Track. You can also record externally and choose Import Voice Track.

  • Use a clean recording with minimal room noise
  • Trim long silence from the beginning and end
  • Keep the voice level clear and consistent
  • Avoid heavy clipping or distortion
  • Use a clear file name that identifies the presenter or segment
  • Keep a backup of the recording; Backup Library includes the station Voice Track catalog and audio
Recommended: Record the voice track while listening to the target song intro or outro so the timing and delivery feel natural.

Import a pre-recorded voice track

Add the completed presenter recording through the Voice Track panel.

1

Open the Voice Track panel

Use the Voice Track button in the main TeoCast interface.

2

Choose Upload or Import

Select the pre-recorded voice file from your computer.

3

Review the Voice Track list

Confirm that the imported title and duration appear correctly.

4

Preview the recording

Turn Cue Monitor ON in Main’s bottom toolbar, then listen through the Preview / Cue Output before assigning the recording to a playlist item.

Confirm that Preview / Cue Output is routed correctly before playing a voice track in a live studio environment.

Set song timing in the Cue Editor

Accurate cue points allow TeoCast to position the presenter audio around the most useful parts of the song.

Vocal In

Marks where the lead vocal or main content begins near the start of the song.

Vocal Out

Marks where the final vocal or main content ends near the outro.

Cue In

Sets the usable starting point of the song when leading silence or unwanted audio should be skipped.

Mix Out

Marks the preferred transition point where the next item may begin.

Audio End

Marks the true end of usable audio for the current song.

Waveform review

Use the waveform and playback controls to confirm each marker before saving the song cue data.

Set Vocal In and Vocal Out carefully. These points help the voice track avoid covering important vocals or ending too early.

Assign Voice In or Voice Out

Attach the selected voice track to the correct playlist row and choose the required position.

Voice In

Use Voice In for presenter audio near the start of the selected song. Check its timing against Vocal In, then confirm the queue row’s compact VT badge.

Voice Out

Use Voice Out for presenter audio near the end of the selected song. Check the outro timing and confirm the queue row’s compact VT badge.

1

Select the playlist row

Choose the song that should carry the voice track.

2

Open the Voice Track assignment menu

Use the available row action or context menu for Voice In or Voice Out insertion.

3

Select the recorded voice file

Choose the required item from the imported Voice Track list.

4

Confirm the playlist badge

Verify that the selected row shows VT and that the assignment is the intended Voice In or Voice Out recording.

Preview the complete result

Test the song and voice-track timing before using it on air.

1

Confirm the preview device

Make sure the Preview / Cue Output is not routed to the main broadcast output.

2

Preview the target song

Listen around the Voice In or Voice Out trigger point.

3

Check music ducking and recovery

Confirm that the song lowers smoothly under the presenter audio and returns to the expected level afterward.

4

Adjust markers when necessary

Return to the Cue Editor if the voice track overlaps vocals, starts late or finishes at an unnatural point.

Important Voice Track playback rules

TeoCast follows safe playback behavior when the user manually seeks or changes position during a song.

  • A Voice In or Voice Out track plays only once during the current song session
  • If the user seeks past a pending trigger, that voice track is skipped
  • Seeking back does not replay a voice track that was already skipped
  • If a voice track is already playing and the user seeks, the voice track stops
  • Music ducking and volume are restored after the voice track stops
  • The next normal song session can use the assigned voice track again
These rules prevent duplicate presenter audio and unexpected replay after manual seeking.

RAMP and VOICE TRACK countdowns

Both counters share the position beside REMAINING on each deck. A Voice In or Voice Out assignment takes priority and hides RAMP for that song occurrence. While the Voice Track plays, its countdown appears; it disappears when finished. Without a Voice Track assignment, RAMP counts down to the saved Vocal In position and disappears at zero. The counters do not alternate automatically.

Common Voice Track problems

Use these checks when the imported recording or assignment does not behave as expected.

Preview is silent

For Main’s Voice Track panel, turn Cue Monitor ON in Main’s bottom toolbar. Confirm the Preview / Cue Output device and test the original recording outside TeoCast.

Voice track does not trigger

Confirm the correct playlist badge, song cue markers and that playback has not already passed the trigger point.

Voice overlaps the vocal

Adjust Vocal In, Vocal Out or the selected Voice Track position in the Cue Editor.

Voice track starts too early or too late

Review Cue In, Mix Out and the visible waveform timing around the selected trigger.

Music does not return to normal level

Stop preview or playback safely, then test the assignment again. Contact support if ducking does not recover.

Imported item is missing

Clear active search text and confirm the recording appears in the station Voice Track catalog. For Workstation, check that Main remains reachable before retrying an unfinished import or save.
